Tap into the Soothing Properties of Sage: A Step-by-Step Guide to Burning Sage

I first learned about burning sage when I was at a friend's house. She was burning sage to cleanse the energy of her home. I thought it seemed a little woo-woo but was immediately drawn to the calming and relaxing scent of the smoke. I asked her about it, and she told me about the many benefits that she had found from burning sage like reducing stress and anxiety.

I decided to try burning sage at home, and immediately felt a sense of calm. Watching the smoke rise helped to clear my mind and created a more peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. I also noticed that I was feeling less stressed.

I've been burning sage for almost a year, and I have found I am able to calm my mind and relax. I find it to be a simple and effective way to improve the energy of my home and my overall well-being. If you're looking for a way to create a more peaceful and relaxing environment, I encourage you to try burning sage. You may be surprised at how much it can improve your life.

Here are some tips for burning sage:

  • Use white sage, which is the most traditional type of sage used for smudging.

  • Light the sage with a match or lighter, and let it smolder gently.

  • Hold the sage in one hand and use the other hand to fan the smoke around your space.

  • Pay special attention to corners, doorways, and windows.

  • Continue smudging until you feel that your space is cleansed.

  • When you are finished, extinguish the sage and allow the smoke to dissipate.  I have an abalone shell with a little sand to snub it out.

You can also add other herbs to your sage bundle, such as lavender, rosemary, or cedar. These herbs can enhance the cleansing and purifying effects of the sage.

If you are interested in trying burning sage, I encourage you to do some research to learn more about the practice. There are many resources available online and in libraries but here are a few links to set you on your way.
